| Pumpkin innards and seeds. |
A few pumpkins had been by our front steps since October. They were there for Halloween. We left them there through November. "No need to move them yet. Thanksgiving decor features gourds," I told myself. As Christmas approached, the pumpkins increasingly looked out of place (nevermind the carol lyric about passing around coffee and pumpkin pie). After a January cold snap, the pumpkins exploded. Was it related to the cold? A desperate critter? Natural decomposition?
